The Farmer’s Market

OK… I’m officially hooked!  Today I made my second visit to the North Easton Farmer’s Market to pickup up local goodies for the week.  This week I stuck with veggies and baked goods, last week I got a piece of great fresh salmon from Jordan Bros. Seafood.  And this week I remembered to bring my camera.

There were six farms, companies represented.  The market is located in the field at 250 Main St (across from the sheep pasture) and is  open Saturdays 10am-2pm and Tuesdays 2-6pm  Here’s a view walking in from the parking area.

My favorite place so far is the Second Nature Farm, located in Norton, MA (how much more local can you get).  Adam and Jill (brother and sister) run the 1-acre farm.  This is their first year.  I’m already hooked on the lettuce and sugar snap peas… but I keep missing out on the radishes.  Gotta get there by 10am next Saturday  :-)

It’s still early in the season and I’m really looking forward to the wider variety of fruits and vegetables as we get into Summer.

Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

My TV viewing tends towards SciFi and stuff like NCIS, The Unit, House and Bones. But a while ago I stumbled on to Guy Fieri on The Food Network. He does a TV show that visits diners, drive-in and dives (hence the name) all around the US. What a kick! He visits 3 joints during every 30-minute episode.  I love old-school diners.  I always leave the show hungry…
